WVMT Junior chorus with Opera Australia in Canberra

Opera Australia presented 4 performances of The Marriage of Figaro in the ACT at Canberra Theatre in August 2016. In order to ensure the process was not too demanding for the young people involved, OA split the performances in half. Woden Valley Youth Choir (who sang with OA on their last visit here in 2014) performed the Friday and Saturday night performances, and Wild Voices Music Theatre junior chorus (many of whom sang in Melbourne Opera's Carmen in 2012) performed on the opening night and the matinee.

In preparing for this amazing opportunity, WVMT junior chorus participants worked with Dianna Nixon to receive detailed vocal coaching, stagecraft training, score preparation, and undertook other training to develop their skills, and to ensure successful completion of this project. Much of this took place at Dianna's private studio, with the final 2 rehearsals at the Classical Ballet Centre in Cook, with thanks to Miss Lorraine's generosity.

The WVMT junior chorus then had 1 rehearsal with Opera Australia vocal coach, Josh Konkelenberg, to finesse their singing, and to rehearse the stage action. On the day of the performance the cast were fitted into their charming period costumes, which they adored wearing, and had 1 stage rehearsal with the generous and supportive professional cast and crew.

Here are 4 reviews, commending the WVMT junior chorus for their grace, charm, capability, their professionalism and their fine singing.
